Hospital Happenings bring fun where it's needed
most!
It's generally not a lot of fun for anyone to be in a hospital,
but it's especially tough on kids. Sometimes because of long or
complicated treatments it just can't be helped. While doctors,
nurses and visiting family members all try to make long hospital
stays more bearable, they can't always provide that extra level
of fun every child needs.
That's where Starlight comes to the rescue! Hospital Happenings
are cheerful themed activities, therapeutic activities and our
popular Starlight
In A Box, to name a few.
Hospital staff recognize Hospital Happenings as highly effective
morale boosters that create much-needed social interaction. For
children, the ability to share a laugh with family, roommates
and caregivers can be the best medicine possible.
Hospital Happenings are a gift that makes everyone smile, including
the planners and participants. Volunteers and the generosity of
individuals and corporations alike make it all happen. Frequently,
businesses and organizations sponsor events, and their employees
volunteer to participate.

The variety and quality of the crafts are thrilling our kids and engaging them in creative activity. 2010 Hospital Happenings Programs
Emergency
Admit Kit
The Starlight ER Admit Kit contains a variety of products for
children and their parents that will help ease some of the inconveniences
upon admittance in an emergency situation.
Starlight In A Box
Individual themed packages such as “BE An Artist”, “Teddy Bear Hugs”, “Toddler Fun/Baby Bundles" can easily be distributed to children during a hospital party or to a child in isolation to help provide an afternoon of fun and distraction.
Boredom Busters
The Starlight Boredom Busters kit provides children and their families with welcome distractive games and puzzles during often anxious and worrisome hospital admissions and wait times.
Starlight Grant Program
In an effort to respond to the regional needs of hospitals across the country Starlight was thrilled to introduce our first ever Grant program. Hospitals, hospices and rehabilitation centres were encouraged to submit a grant application for a program that focused on entertainment and distraction. Our first year was an outstanding success, and over $100,000 in grants were distributed to 97 hospitals.
