GREAT
ESCAPES (GE) provides a variety of special outings
for seriously ill children and their families, allowing them
to create memories outside of hospital settings and meet other
families with similar needs. Monthly GREAT ESCAPES events
throughout the Lower Mainland have allowed families to spend
some time together having fun.
"Starlight Starbright has a huge impact, not only on my
family, but on everyone we have spoken to at one of your GREAT
ESCAPES events. We really appreciate the chance to forget
about all the difficult stuff we have to go through and just
have fun. We are so excited to go to every event and we enthusiastically
wait to hear what is going on next month. We truly appreciate

Hospital
Happenings break the monotony of hospitalization with
fun filled theme-based parties that help to make a gloomy
day brighter for a hospitalized child. Frequent Hospital Happenings
at BC Children's, Surrey Memorial and Prince George Regional
Hospitals, and fun-filled "Parties-in-a-Box" deliveries to
Lions Gate, Royal Inland, Kelowna General and Victoria General
Hospitals have brightened the long days for pediatric
patients.
"After an event, I hear kids talking about what they did,
who won the hot potato or the beach bingo game. It is those
times that remind me how much Hospital Happenings really make
a difference in the life of a seriously ill child."

Many of these events have been sponsored by local businesses.
Sponsorship of these events proves rewarding to both the children
involved and the donor. Hospital Happenings have had a great

A Fun Centre
is a mobile Nintendo entertainment unit. Twenty Fun Centres
provide amusement and distraction in hospitals throughout
the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley and Vancouver Island . You
can find Fun Centres in some of the following locations; BC
Children's, Canuck Place , Surrey Memorial Hospital , Sunny
Hill Hospital and many others. Fun Centres are seen by sponsors
as a way to make a meaningful and long-term impact in a pediatric
