London is one of the most architecturally beautiful cities in the world. From historic buildings to modern design restaurants like sketch (click on the link to see what we’re talking about), it’s no wonder that we chose such a culturally rich city to serve as our theme for this year’s Starlight Canada Gala!
Over the course of the next few months, we will be highlighting different influences that you’re bound to see incorporated into the decor of this year’s event at the Fairmont Royal York. First up (and rightfully so), the Buckingham Palace Gates!

According to The Anglophile, “there were gates around Buckingham House when King George III lived here in the 18th century, and they were modified several times. The current gates were designed by Sir Thomas Brock in 1911. Queen Victoria died in 1901, and Edward VII died in 1909. So, the new gates were ordered for the palace by the new sovereign, King George V and his historically-interested Queen Mary.” Click here to view a photo of the coat of arms up close and check out the video below:
