Starlight Hospital Happenings
Q: We love all of the Starlight In A Box Kits and they have become an integral part of how we interact with the children. Would it be possible to request that you consider designing a small kit for our teen population? They are often the forgotten group.
A: In August 2011, Starlight will be sending out our first "Tween Swag Bag" as one of this year’s Starlight In A Box distractive activity kits.
Q: As a result of a Public Health Advisory directive to remove toys and magazines from hospital emergency departments and common areas, many children and families will have a more difficult and anxious time in hospital waiting rooms, clinics and outpatient areas.
A: The Starlight Boredom Busters Kit is in response to the requests from hospitals to address the ongoing need to provide small distractive items for children while they are in waiting rooms. Items are contained in a small zippered biodegradable bag and include a children’s puzzle/game magazine, sharpened pencil colours, kids comic book and mini drawing board. It’s always easier to face a long wait when there are puzzles to solve and games to play! 9000 kits were distributed to hospitals in 2010!
