As an organization serving pediatric patients, you are well aware of the difficult journey facing seriously ill children and their families. Pediatric patients often times feel isolated, lonely and fearful, and families become disconnected. Starlight’s mission is providing an escape from the pain and suffering these children endure through innovative programs that empower, educate, entertain and inspire. While we cannot alter the course of a child’s illness, Starlight’s core programs are designed to enhance quality of life, and are unique as they focus on the long-term needs of children and their families.

Research studies conducted on Starlight related programs prove benefits for children engaging with these programs, including:

• Decreased pain and anxiety
• Increased knowledge and sense of responsibility for managing disease
• Decreased need for pain medication
• A greater willingness to return for treatment
• A greater sense of peer support
• Alleviation of stress, loneliness, and isolation that accompany illness

The Starlight Children’s Foundation has created a Hospital Manual that we hope will provide you with more detailed information about our Foundation and outline the partnership benefits we bring to you. Key information about Starlight core programs is also highlighted. We are certain our programs will complement the services you already provide to paediatric patients. Also contained in this on-line resource are the forms and instructions needed to effectively make use of our programs. These forms will make it easy for you to access our programs throughout the year. We hope this on-line feature will provide quick reference to locate forms as well as add any new information or updates provided by our Foundation in the future.
