26th Annual Starlight Insurance Gala: “Superheroes” (POSTPONED)
April 18 @ 5:30 pm - 11:00 pm
A message from the Starlight Insurance Gala Committee:
These are indeed challenging times.
As a key decision-maker for your firm, you have been trained to deal with adversity, overcome obstacles, and strive for survival – no matter the odds.
It turns out you have a lot in common with our Starlight kids.
COVID-19 has proven to be more than just a short-term, troublesome inconvenience. The full impact of this pandemic has yet to be realized, but what we know is that our clients, our staff, our families and friends, are all affected, without exception.
In the face of adversity, Starlight Canada is taking inspiration from none other than the seriously ill children they serve every day. Times may be difficult and unpredictable, but together we will face every obstacle with resilience and determination. Starlight Canada will continue to stand by the children who need them most, now more than ever. We hope you, our industry, will stand tall alongside.
The Starlight Insurance Gala Committee has been reviewing all factors and social-distancing protocols related to COVID-19 (including travel bans, restrictions for larger gatherings and conferences); and as you know, our guests of honour at this Gala are sick kids with a variety of immune-deficiencies. Their safety, as well as those of our team members, donors, sponsors, guests and volunteers is of the utmost importance to us all. As such, instead of our traditional in-person Gala, planned for April 18th at The Ritz Carleton, we intend to change the format to a first-ever Starlight Virtual Insurance Gala! [at a future date to be determined]
In the meantime, in these unprecedented times, Starlight Canada is continuing its amazing work in earnest. They are taking innovative steps to ensure that support and smiles for kids is still felt strongly across the country, from throwing virtual events to shipping parties directly to children’s doorsteps! Starlight is committed to what they do, where they’re going, but need our help getting there. Now more than ever, we are counting on you to help give seriously ill children the best today, knowing that their tomorrow’s are never guaranteed.
Here are three things we are asking of you, as someone who really wants to support these incredibly brave kids:
1) You have already purchased or earmarked funds for tickets or sponsorship to this year’s event. Please consider maintaining your existing level of financial commitment by converting your tickets/sponsorship to a donation! Not only will you feel like a superhero in supporting these amazing and resilient kids, but you will receive a tax receipt for the full amount of your donation. By turning your planned support into a donation, the impact of your purchase will go even further to brightening the lives of Starlight Families.
2) If, in addition to your Sponsorship, you had intended to purchase all or part of a “Wish” at our traditional “Wish Auction”, we encourage you to continue with your plans. “Wish” sponsors will also be featured prominently in social media and advertising campaigns leading up to and after “our virtual event”. Remember, the cost to sponsor a “Wish” is $3,500, but you are also welcome to work together with other groups and companies to build a “Wish”.
3) Please follow Starlight on social media to see all the incredible things they’re doing to continue to support Starlight families through these unprecedented times.
We will update you as plans materialize for our virtual event, which will include messages from our emcee, our Starlight children and online versions of our auction and raffle.
Starlight relies heavily on the amazing fundraising we do at this event, so we are desperately hoping that you, as part of this incredible industry, will be able to provide support in some form. Before you eliminate this line item from your budget, we respectfully ask that you review the above and see how you are able to continue your support. Thank you so very much for your consideration and support of Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada.

In the meantime, we wish that you be safe, and stay healthy.
