Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada and long-time partner, Toys“R”Us Canada, have come together once again to help a seriously ill child create their very own unique bear, from the ears all the way to the paws. This year, the lucky Starlight child selected to design the 13th Limited Edition Collectible Starlight Bear for 2021 was 4-year-old Pearl!
A brave and kind-hearted young girl, Pearl was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) at just two years old, where she endured countless chemotherapy sessions, lumbar punctures, blood transfusions, and many other procedures. Through all the scary hospital visits and doctor’s appointments, this resilient girl continues to smile, dance, and light up the big world around her!
Tempo’s name comes from Pearl’s passion for dance, and the purple embroidered ballet shoes symbolize her favourite colour! The golden eyes, paws, and ears represent childhood cancer and all the battles that little Pearl was up against at such a young age.
Inspired by Pearl’s very own signature pigtails, the matching bows symbolize one of her happiest moments – the day her hair grew back long enough to put those pigtails back in!
Available in-store or online thanks to Toys”R”Us Canada, proceeds from the sale of Tempo will help Starlight Canada continue to brighten the lives of seriously ill children and their families, just like Pearl’s.

74 Treasure Chests Placed In 52 Hospitals
